[FLNK MAGAZINE] X:IN INTERVIEW
Creating choreography, writing lyrics, and crafting their own stage, X:IN is a true artist. They were professional during the conversation, discussing how they worked for their first mini-album [SYNCHRONICITY]. This interview will make you look forward to X:IN's tommorrow.

Q. How was the photo shoot with FLNK MAGAZINE?
[ESHA] Since we've often portrayed a powerful girl crush concept, I was excited and worried about showing a different side than usual. However, the pictures came out better than I had anticipated. Thanks to that, we were able to explore a concept that we don't commonly do, and it was fun.
Q. How has everyone been lately? All the promotions for your first mini-album [SYNCHRONICITY] have successfully concluded.
[HANNAH] I was nervous because this was our first activity for NIZZ unnie(the elder sister) and me. But I realized it was over when I came to my senses. (laughs) Fortunately, it seemed like we wrapped it up well, and I felt relieved. Now, we are gearing up for our first performance overseas, the K-Wave Festival, so we're working hard. We're getting ready to enjoy the stage with our fans.

Q. All of the songs have the signature sound ‘X:IN’ in the intro. Whose voice is it?
[ESHA] In this album, the <SYNCHRONIZE> intro features my voice, <Cat & Tiger> has NOVA's, and <겁이나 (Close my eyes)> has ARIA's voice. After finishing the main recording, each of us tried the 'X:IN' once for each song, and the producer chose the version that best suited the mood of each track. It was like a small battle among us. It made me kind of competitive.
Q. NIZZ and HANNAH joined the team from [SYNCHRONICITY], but you seem to have blended in well as if you've been a team for a long time. How did the other members assist with the adaptation?
[HANNAH] We had no prior experience, you know. Thinking about something and trying it is different, but the members shared many of their experiences from previous activities. It allowed us to approach things with different mindsets and was very helpful in many ways.
[NIZZ] The members gave us lots of advice about looking at the camera during music broadcasts. They told us to focus only a little on finding the camera because it looks awkward if the eyes keep wandering around. (laughs) We practiced hard while keeping that in mind. Also, the members made us feel comfortable, as if we were not new members, treating us like we had been together for a long time. Thanks to that, we feel so close now that we can communicate with just a glance.

Q. This album highlighted the members' participation. NOVA did rap-making for the title track <SYNCHRONIZE>, the English version of <겁이나 (Close my eyes)>, and ESHA created the choreography for <겁이나 (Close my eyes)>.
[ESHA] When I first heard the song, I imagined a flowing choreography reminiscent of modern dance, and I thought it should have a storyline. Concerning the lyrics, I made it like flowers blooming in the beginning and closing with a mood of falling asleep. I tried to incorporate distinctive dance moves and intuitive gestures as key points.
[NOVA] This was my first time writing rap lyrics, and it was so much fun, although I was a bit nervous. I focused on making the lyrics match the beat and rhythm and creating a cool sound, rather than the meaning itself. So, for the English lyrics for <겁이나 (Close my eyes)>, I tried to maintain a similar sound to the Korean version that the producer wrote. For example, in the first line of the chorus, “겁이나 겁이나 내가 원한 내가 될 순 없어”, I wrote it in English as "겁이나 겁이나 am I gonna make it how I want to?"
Q. NOVA participated in dance sports in Russia, and ARIA was an actress in India. What distinguishes acting and dance sports from idol performances?
[ARIA] During my acting career, I received a lot of advice such as "You have to do it naturally". I had to act in such a way that viewers may perceive it as genuine. However, now I noticed that the natural expressions didn't come across well on stage. So I'm currently looking for ways to express myself on stage and camera.
[NOVA] I'm completely different from ARIA. Because the stage and the audience were so far away when I was doing dance sports, I had to produce powerful facial emotions. But trying to perform on the idol stage in that manner felt excessive when viewed through the camera. I’m trying to keep it more natural these days.
Q. Please tell us about the charm of the member next to you.
[ARIA] I love NOVA's facial expressions. Many people in the comments also appreciate NOVA's expressions, and I agree with them.
[NOVA] NIZZ unnie’s voice is beautiful. She has an extraordinary ability to produce a wide range of tones, whether singing or speaking.
[NIZZ] I’d say ESHA unnie has a personality. Her ability to embrace is amazing. She takes everyone's various points of view and organizes them.
[NOVA] That's correct. I think our wonderful teamwork is possible thanks to her.
[ESHA] HANNAH's naturally funny even when she hasn't done anything remarkable. Also, if it gets silent, she's probably doing something unusual. (laughs) These characteristics make her endearing.
[HANNAH] ARIA had an aura when I first met her. But she's actually a cute maknae(the youngest) cracking jokes and it’s charming.
Q. FLNK combines FAN and LINK, and it’s a platform that connects fans and artists. How would X:IN like to connect with fans in the future?
[NIZZ] Even in the title track <SYNCHRONIZE> we say 'Ready, X:IN' together, you know. I hope that when our fans listen to our music, they feel as if they are with us, even if they are far away. So, in the upcoming songs, I want to tell stories and convey sentiments that show our fans are with us.
[HANNAH] I used to merely read the comments before, but now I feel much closer to Ready thanks to b.stage. I’d like to keep communicating with our fans and exchanging comments like this. I also want to meet fans in person through the fan meeting and become closer to them.
